It is the most cosmopolitan residential area in the centre of Izmir with many small hotels. It has been the location of many successful films and documentaries, especially Masumiyet, Kader and Ben O Değilim. Especially with the recent refugee problem, it has become more reflective of the streets of Syria and filmmakers wanted to use it as a copy of Syria because it was easier to shoot.
